Hate Without ReasonPeace, justice, equality. Things Americans are proud to die for. But Communism? They don't even want communists around them, let alone die for their system. But why? If people actually read the Communist Manifesto, perhaps they'd find out that their government was tricking them. That they were being lied to. That the people who have been ripping them off and exploiting them are now scapegoating and forwarding hate and aggression to innocent people who want the best for their citizens. I'm of course going to refer back to Red Terror of the 1950's. The US was blacklisting accused Communists and doing inhumane things to them, but why? Because
Soavist Quote: HumanityYou see the troubles of life will never dissipate, no matter how hard we as humans try- it would take an eternity to quell the troubles we have in each moment of our lives, and in that entirety we will surely gain far more troubles, so my advice to whoever is reading this, is to not worry and march through- your life is but what you make of it, should people push you down, trample and stone you- you have it in you to march on through, should it be a rape of the body, mind or emotion; you still have it in you to march on through, and in regimented form too. We as a race are strong especially when we are weak; we can overcome anything- includ
Soavist: The 5 Pillars of LifeThe 4 pillars of life: shelter, food, drink, and the Sun. Strange isn't it that we need these very bare basics to survive, and yet we can play God and add another pillar to survival of which changes everything completely. We have added money, if one does not have finances one simply cannot live, just as we can't without the original 4 pillars. We as humans have done something quite horrific, we have capitalised survival, we have made it so that those who cannot afford to live, simply perish- yes there are organisations to help people with no money, but they simply cannot do what is needed- what is ultimately something for we as a race to do
The Innocence of Muslims FilmGreetings all! This week I’m focusing on something that surprises me, something that I had expected would not evolve into the political stumble block that it has become. I’m talking about the short trailer film for “Innocence of Muslims”, which was given an Arabic translation and spread to predominantly Islamic nations just a few days ago. Quite soon there was a public outcry in Libya and Egypt, but I expected something as such to happen. Egypt has a government headed by an Islamist, and Libya has become a grounds for a resurgence of Islamism in the wake of the revolution. Libya has also become increasingly lawless in a similar pattern to Egypt, only quieting down a tad since elections took place. As the protests continued, my suspicions about the seriousness of the problem grew. And then a few days later, I’m reading in the post about Australian Muslims protesting against the film (
An End to Affirmative ActionGreetings all! This post comes as a closer to the month of September, a two-part work which will be completed tomorrow. This first part deals with a domestic issue, and the second portion will deal with a more international issue. In this post, I intend to state my stance on affirmative action clearly and provide my reasoning for said stance. Moving on from that the reason I bring up affirmative action is because, as some of you may have heard, the Supreme Court plans on hearing a case attacking affirmative action by the University of Texas at Austin in October (http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2012/09/28/Supreme-Court-to-hear-UT-case/UPI-62921348867470/). This topic is especially important to me, because I am applying to colleges myself these days. Whether affirmative action is upheld, mildly changed, or struck down entirely could affect my admissions, and the admissions
The Right To An AbortionGreetings all! This week’s title is inspired as part of a quote from a friend of mine. We were discussing how both political parties in America very much like to focus on certain population demographics during the election season, and why we believe this is damaging to our constitutional republic as a whole. What she said struck me as unabashedly true: “Democracy is not a tetris game. People should be treated as people, not as voting blocs which can be used for political gain.” I decided to take a note from her idea, and begin a mini-event on my blog. Both this week’s post and next’s week’s will focus on women’s issues, while simultaneously making sure to treat the topics as subjects that affect all of us rather than just some. This is especially true since women make up more than half of all American people today. This may even spill over into a third week, if you all demand it. Moving on, this week I approach a subject which ligh
The 2012 ElectionGreetings all!I’d like to wish a happy Labor Day to all my readers from the United States. I hope we’ve all enjoyed a day of rest in celebration of the many achievements organized labor has made over the years for our society. This week, I’ll be passing my first and final judgment on whom I think should win the 2012 presidential election. I have postponed making this post because I wanted to wait until the general election season had officially begun and both conventions had passed. I’ve decided to not wait for the DNC to end, as Barack Obama will be the only nominee there. It would be pointless for me to wait, as we already know with absolute certainty that he is running and how he is doing so. I specifically wanted to wait for the RNC to formally nominate someone, and that has now occurred; Mitt Romney is officially the Republican nominee for president. As such, it is time I tell you what a communist hopes for in this election. Many people in the ne
The Participants of the Quebec ElectionToday is the Quebec provincial elections, and I have decided to tell you of the main parties that are competing for seats.note: all percentages are averageOnto the Main contenders!First the ruling parti of Quebec, the Parti Liberal du Quebec.Led by the recurring incumbent Jean Charest, the Liberal Party has had a history of populism, social policies and political scandals. The execution of Louis Riel, leader of the Northwest Rebellion and the metis people, by the conservative government was incredibly unpopular with the Quebecois, due to his position of protecting the rights and their culture which is very much the same situation as Quebec was at the time. Honore Mercier rode this to victory in the following election. From this he promoted Quebec nationalism, Catholicism, reform and economic development. However, later on reports of his party diverting funds caused him to be dismissed by the lieutenant governor. Afterwards the liberals regained their dom
The Pink Tide: Moving Forward In South AmericaGreetings all! This week’s post comes a little late, mostly due to laziness and anxiety over the end of my summer vacation. With the start of my school schedule, I am certain that my blog posts will become more regularly on Sundays into the future. Anyway, this post concerns South America, a continent comprising of twelve countries and rich with history and culture. I always pay close attention to the politics of the continent, mostly because I see many of its countries as rising powers on the world stage. I intend to suggest what these countries need to and should do to increase their influence without neglecting their populace in the process. Namely, I intend to declare my support of the pink tide, which I’ll discuss shortly. Anyway, the pink tide is a phrase used to describe trends in modern Latin American politics. Namely, the phrase symbolizes the increasing acceptance and implementation of leftist politics in Latin American governments. Because red is typicall
Limiting U.S. Military PowerGreetings all! This post comes on the last night prior to my school year starting, so I’ve decided to uptake a little something which I had originally created for academic purposes. I’m part of the Junior Statesmen of America, or JSA for short, a political debate organization across the nation’s high schools. The group has several conventions during the year, and for one such convention I prepared an amendment for debate. Ultimately, the amendment was denied in favor of a bill which had been prepared by one of my fellows, but that matters not within this context. The amendment I prepared for debate last year was one concerning U.S. military power and influence in the modern world. I have prepared the text of the amendment, so that you all know exactly what I’m talking about. So here it is:An Amendment to Limit the Military Power of the United StatesThe United States government has authorized military interventions in countless nations in support of c
A FableThere once were five goats, all identical and each with an apple. One day, a gust of wind came and blew the hair of one upwards. Another goat argued passionately and eloquently that this change of hair made the other goat different and took his apple. The goat with upturned hair simply said that was fine as it was his comrade's liberty to believe it so and do whatever he so pleased. The next day, rain found its way to the field where the goats stood. All hid under a tree except one. The goat with two apples declared that the wet goat was different and took the third apple. The wet goat simply nodded in agreement. The third day was extremely muddy from the rain and a goat tripped and fell into the mud. The wealthy goat claimed a fourth apple. The others save one applauded this move. The last day, the goat with four apples demanded the fifth apple from the fifth goat who vehemently declined to give it away. The three apple-less goats were horrified. The wealthy goat declared that it was
Good vs. EvilGreetings all! This post comes as the conclusion to my two-part ending for July (albeit a little late, perhaps). In this post, I intend to take on a notion which is widespread in the United States, but is also found in just about any country. We like to think of everything within the bounds of black and white, good and evil, and nothing more. There are innate problems with this system, and the very fact that we let it exist obstructs much of our policy efforts. As stated, we like to see politics through a lens of “this is either one thing, or the other, and nothing in between.” We can see it in many of our mantras: if you’re not with us you’re against us, we do not negotiate with terrorists, etc. We enjoy the simple nature of having to choose between two options; this allows us to avoid having scary things like complex situations arise. The biggest problem with this is that the world does not work this way. Things are not so black and white, and in fac
Fight the Right!I hate that it has come to this, but we have no choice.Read this article if you want to know the desperate situation in the US right now with the threat of right-wing militancy.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/07/right-wing-terrorism-sikh-attack_n_1752726.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000009#slide=1332915In the US, there are over 600 organized right-wing militias across the country. There are seemingly next to none on the left. Now, I don't know it's because left wing militias are more secretive and organized, or leftists don't see the need to constantly be playing army man when they are grown ass men, or if we all just prefer a more intellectual approach as opposed to the right that has no intellect at all. But one thing is clear, the right wing favors using terrorism even more than Islamist and sociopaths. After the 2001 attacks, there have been more than twice as many non-Islamic right-wing terrorism attacks than Islamic ones. The Islamic attacks total only a few more dead, with a
The Legalization of MarijuanaGreetings all! This is the first part of my two-part closer for July, focusing on a domestic and a foreign issue in each part respectively. We begin with the domestic issue, one which I have remained mostly silent on in the past; namely, the legalization of drugs, specifically marijuana. My reasoning for staying quiet on this one is because my thoughts concerning this issue have always been clashing with each other, and it has not been until now when I feel as if I've found a consensus within myself.Moving on, my stance on marijuana and drugs in general has been a developing one for many years. This has been one of the most complex issues
Grounds for Socialist RevolutionAs recently hinted at, our current economic situation is far below favorable to the majority. We are in severe debt to other countries and we have a seriously bad case of inflation, just to name a few problems. We need to do something before our situation gives way to mass chaos. Our country is damaged beyond repair, so we need something new. Obama gave it his best shot, but when that doesn't work, we will.We need a revolution. We need to rally the lower class, the proletariat if you will, get them on our side, and take it to DC. My ideal path for revolution is to also call on the major Communist and Socialist organizations of the US to com
Burma Muslim MassacreI have some shocking news. There is a genocide going on in Burma/Myanmar where the victims are the Muslim minority being persecuted by the Buddhist majority. But the thing that fucking pisses me off is that the Western News organizations aren't reporting this to the Western world, proving that the Western World does not give a fuck about Muslims. So far, only second rate news sites and Middle Eastern news organizations are reporting what is happening. The United Nations is being useless as usual like it always has been such as with Darfur or Rwanda and now it's doing it with Burma and the United States only gets involved with things if it makes it look good and pretty or if it involves business. Tell others about what's going on.Here's proof:http://godofwarlover.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d57cjnihttp://dawn.com/2012/07/24/genocide-of-myanmar-muslims-condemned/http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/burmas-monks-call-for-muslim-community-to-be-shunned-7973317.htmlMuslims are
Thoughts on communismAlways seems to be a touchy subject with anyone and that's communism/marxism, in this world its alright to be a conservative, its fine to be a liberal but socialist or communist? Then your the scum of the Earth basically and worse than the nazi's and therefore must automatically support Stalin, suppression of freedom, dictatorships, banning colour and anything else that can be listed.I stand as more of a Libertarian Marxist with scientific marxism leanings through I have nothing against Marx Leninism ether and I'm always open to other schools of thought, I have sort of an anti sectarianism ideal and believe all socialist groups should unite to get stuff done. I'm also friendly to ideas such as resource based economy, democratic technocracy, post scarcity ideals, so to be honest its hard to really find one place where I truly stand, guess I'm just chill that way.I do think a lot of people have misconceptions about marxism due to the past era of mccarthyism, pro capitalist propaganda o
Iran and the NukeGreetings all! This post is a request directly from my father, who accepted my suggestion that I explain my views on Iran's nuclear program after a discussion during dinner several nights ago. My view on the topic is one that is hard to get across, and I often receive flak for my position from multiple sides of the political spectrum for it. However, I do believe that I can provide solid reasoning for what I think, and with this post I intend to do so. I only ask that you keep an open mind on this touchy issue, and that you don't fire ignorant hate my way in the comments unless you've read the post and have a reasonable argument. Thanks in a
Atlas was SmugAyn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is practically the bible of American libertarians. Due to its cult popularity, I decided to write my own brief analysis of it. It has the philosophical depth and evenhandedness of Mary Sues locking horns with cartoon villains, while the obvious self-insert protagonist (Dagny Taggart) has sex with all the male heroes. In short, it's like Twilight for sociopaths. And that isn't even the worst aspect of it For starters: a brief summary. Hank Rearden is a self-made promethean innovator who invented a superior steel alloy. His incompetent and unscrup
Pascal's WagerPascal's Wager To hell with Pascal and his wager!- To bet with a false sense of faith That one man could fool his 'creator' To spare him mortality's snathe. Often my chest is heavy With the pity I have for some Who would play with their hearts and levy Their heads against Kingdom Come. When I think on the world and its wonders, And that people are good (at the least), I weep for the ass whose blinders And h
Why Occupiers Are RightHello all! This week's post concerns the Occupy movement which erupted over our country and some other cities around the world last year due to discontent with the system of wealth. The instant it occurred, conservatives everywhere dismissed the movement as anti-American, or anti-capitalist, or added a number of other arguments. Either way, when the rich in America make common arguments, most of them are seriously flawed. I seek to debase these points in my post this week.Moving on, there are many ways the rich and right-wing supporters can defend the so-called job creators. One major argument is that occupiers are too young or too uninfor
