The Fash
- An essay by Axel Stålnacke -
Fascism is, in certain aspects, more like a religion than an ideology; it usually glorifies certain individuals to the level of perceived divinity and it is almost entirely based upon faith (faith being defined as belief despite lack of evidence). The arguments presented by fascists are analogous to those used by creationists. They go on about how the distance between various continents combined with the time their populations have been separated would be enough to create substantial genetic changes, despite all of modern biology not just pointing to, but asserting that this is not

Put it all on Red!
I present to you Comrade Laski’s tale
In modern times it’d read [spoiler alert] epic fail
But this was the sixties/seventies
The decade of strange amenities
Laski was another American Red
This time even his own Comrades thought him better dead
Laski & Co backed the Chairman Mao
To the Bourgeoisie they said `Kapow!`
But Groups for Peoples Armed Defence
Cost quite a lot in dollars and pence
But Laski had a plan that would turn the tide
He’d go to Vegas and let it all ride!
As we know Lady Luck is quite fickle
Even to those shaded by the Hammer & Sickle
To his eternal regret
He lost every bet
And showing judgement quite poo

Socialist Library (1) Socialism and man in Cuba
"Socialism and man in Cuba" is a tremendous little essay on how socialists should strive to achieve their ends. Che Guevara gives an insightful view on the use of culture, the younger generation's role in the revolution and the individual's role to the whole.
Che begins by explaining just how the Cubans succeeded in overthrowing their corrupt leadership: The masses rallied around a central figurehead that acted as the spear point of progress. Che states that it is the role of revolutionary eliteLenin would call them the Bolsheviksto lead the workers to freedom and to an end of oppression by the imperialist forces set against the

French Young Communists on Protests
Here in France, the police must serve the people The MOVEMENT OF YOUNG COMMUNISTS OF FRANCE calls for a complete overhaul of policing following the police killing in Nanterre and subsequent protests and riots that have broken out nationwide THE national council of the Movement of Young Communists of France (MJCF), held in Paris on July 1-2, shares the public’s indignation after Nahel, a 17-year-old boy, was killed by a police officer in Nanterre on June 27. First of all, we want to express our solidarity with the victim’s family. It appears on videos online that nothing can justify the police officer’s use of his gun. Refusing to comply with orders does not legitimise an execution; this is no regular police intervention, but a murder. Following this event, anger and emotion are legitimate and to be expected. It has led to violent confrontations with the police and destruction of public buildings. Neighbours will be the first victims of this rioting. These deteriorations are

Sudanese Communists call for Ceasefire
As civilian deaths mount in Sudan military feud, Communists call for immediate ceasefire Sudanese Communists are calling for an “immediate” ceasefire as the civilian casualty count in the bitter struggle for power between Sudan’s army and a notorious paramilitary force hit almost 100 dead and around 600 wounded. The fierce fighting in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas has dealt a new blow to hopes for a transition to democracy and raises fears of a wider conflict. The clashes capped months of heightened tensions between the military, headed by General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, and its partner-turned-rival, the Rapid Support Forces group (RSF), led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. Those tensions had delayed a deal with political parties to get the country back to its short-lived transition to democracy, which was derailed by an October 2021 military coup. There were chaotic scenes in the Khartoum, with fighters firing from truck-mounted machine guns in densely-populated

Brazilian Communists Struggle Against Coup Attempt
Brazilian Communist Party: Mass struggle against coup d'état! Fascists will not pass! The following statement was issued by the National Political Commission of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB): On the afternoon of that Sunday, January 8, supporters of Jair Bolsonaro invaded the National Congress and tried to occupy buildings of other public bodies, with the intention of promoting disturbances and giving rise to a coup d'état. This movement has been articulated for months by sectors of the Brazilian ultra-right, which has strong financial support from businessmen and segments of the military police and the Armed Forces. In different media, extreme right groups have openly guided demonstrations of non-recognition of election results and attacks on democracy. The images that circulate on social networks and also in the television press leave no doubt as to the prevarication of part of the police forces in Brasília, which, in addition to having a staff far below what should have

YCL Statement on New Tory Anti-Strike Laws
Statement on new Tory anti-strike laws The Young Communist League has issued the following statement in response to Tory plans for new laws attacking trade unions and the right to strike in Britain: This week’s announcement by Rishi Sunak’s Tory government that they intend to introduce new legislation attacking trade unions and the right to strike in Britain must be met with determined and united resistance by the labour movement. Britain already has some of the harshest and most restrictive anti-trade union laws and laws on balloting for industrial action in Europe, imposed by the Tories over the decades. The new measures are set to attack the ability of workers in eight “key sectors” (including the NHS, ambulance, rail, schools, border security, fire and rescue and nuclear) to organise and withdraw their labour. The Tories intend to impose so-called ‘minimum service levels’ requirements on striking workers which they will be required to meet, even where they have democratically

Communist Party New Year Message
Communist Party new year message, ‘Class politics in a class-divided society’ On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party, I express New Year greetings and best wishes to you and your family. It is going to be a busy and action-packed 2023: SOLIDARITY WITH THE STRIKERS! Who now denies the existence of the working class – the people whose labour creates, stores, transports and delivers society’s goods and services? Who now would question how essential their work is to the functioning of a modern civilised society? The current strike wave reinforces the point. Not only does the working class still exist – despite all claims to the contrary – but it has its own demands, and fights for them with its own organisations. In doing so, we now see glimpses of the potential power of the working class. Without their labour power, society cannot function. But we could manage without the super-rich shareholders and landowners whose income takes the form of share dividends

CPB at International Communist Meeting
22nd IMCWP, Contribution by the Communist Party of Britain 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties - Havana 27 to 29 October 2022 Statement of the Communist Party of Britain The Communist Party of Britain welcomes this 22nd international meeting of Communist and Workers Parties in Havana. We salute our hosts, the Communist Party of Cuba. We pledge our profound solidarity with Cuba and its fight forself-determination and sovereignty. Our meeting takes place at a time when world peace is under immediate threat from economic, military, and political tensions arising from the situation in Ukraine, notably the intervention of US led imperialist forces seeking to escalate, prolong and widen the conflict. The escalation of the conflict threatens a nuclear conflagration with Zelensky now calling for a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Russia. The US, NATO and the EU have – by a massive escalation in arms supplies – changed the battlefield geometry and further reduced

Class Unity Key to Combating Climate Challenge
‘Class Unity key to combating climate challenge’, say communists The greenwashing circus at Cop27 in Egypt exposes government hypocrisy and capitalism’s inability to address climate change, the Communist Party said yesterday. Ben Chacko told the party’s political committee that eco-protesters taking direct action were right to highlight the lack of progress on reducing emissions — but warned that only uniting climate action with industrial and peace struggles stood a chance of delivering real change. “It’s absurd to claim you can reduce emissions without a cheap, comprehensive, reliable public transport network — but politicians are cutting investment and attacking rail workers,” he pointed out. Britain needed more projects like the Welsh Labour-led government’s Core Valley Lines Transformation scheme, electrifying the valleys for a train-tram network that would reduce emissions, boost connectivity and create jobs. Equally, relying on companies making super-profits from fossil

Israeli Communists Against Fascism and Racism
MK Odeh: Our Public Will Stand Firm Against Fascism and Racism. Hadash chairman MK Ayman Odeh responded on Tuesday evening to the results of the exit polls in which Hadash-Ta’al joint list obtained four to five seats. Odeh told Channel 12 News that “the Arab public came out to vote in large numbers, despite the high turnout in the Jewish public.” Odeh expressed hope that his party will win another seat. “Another seat for Hadash-Ta’al will prevent Netanyahu and the Ben Gvirs from forming a government,” he said. Regarding the achievement registered by the racist Religious Zionist Party, which is projected to win 14 seats, Odeh said, “Kahanism has become 15% of the Israeli public. If the exit polls do not change and this camp forms the government, our public will stand firm against fascism and racism.” The frontpage of the Communist weekly Zo Haderech on Wednesday reads “Back to the streets.” While the pro-Netanyahu bloc is slated to expand to 65 seats in the Knesset following

YCL On Rishi Sunak Becoming Prime Minister
Sunak IN as Tory PM: All OUT for the fight against the ruling class The Central Committee of the Young Communist League has issued the following statement in response to the declaration of Rishi Sunak as new Tory Prime Minister. The imposition of Rishi Sunak on Britain as prime minister by a handful of Tory MPs was an anti-democratic charade. Tory factions have squabbled and settled on Sunak, imposing the richest prime minister in history, swiftly after getting rid of the shortest lived and most incompetent. The political system of Britain’s ruling class continues to degenerate while working people are impoverished. Ruling class selects a new chief Tory Sunak represents continuity on economic and political terms more palatable to the ruling class and the markets, carrying forward over a decade of Tory austerity. The brief but eventful premiership of Liz Truss saw out a monarch and shattered the value of the pound. The economic policies pursued by Truss reflected one hard right
