From the General Secretary's Desk XI UPDATED

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 5, 2012, 8:07 PM

Dear comrades of the Communist Party of DeviantART,

I would like to make all comrade members aware that our yearly Party Congress begins on November 7th. This will be the time when all members of the Party have direct influence upon the direction of the CPDA for the year to come. We will, as always, be holding discussion topics on what our comrade members wish to see done, votes on any CPDA policy issues, and of course voting on adding members to the Central Committee as Party Observers and voting on candidates for the Party's Central Executive Committee.

While the Congress does not begin for a few more days, I will urge anyone and everyone who would like to be considered for office within the Party to announce their candidacy through this journal's comments sections. Please state why you feel you would be qualified for the position. If anyone wants to just state that they wish to be nominated to the Central Committee as Observers in the Party's operations, announce so as well. While not required, any comrades wishing to run for one of the seven Executive Committee posts may submit artwork and writings to further demonstrate their qualifications and positions.

I will also take this time to announce the Party-Wide Discussions Points of the Congress. These topics will be discussed and (if decided by the membership) be voted upon:

Funding of the CPDA's Point account.
Possible changes to submission policies for artwork and writings.
Discussion on the exact role that Observer members of the Central Committee serve.
Finding a comrade skilled in CSS and Journal Skin talents to properly overhaul the Party Journal Skin.
The creation of a new Commissariat of Environmental Affairs.
The outcome of the United States Presidential Elections.
More topics to come as suggestions keep rolling in!

Votes will be held upon any proposals made during these discussion points. If there are any other topics comrades wish to propose for the Congress, please let us know.

I will also take this time to announce my candidacy for the office of General Secretary once more. I will make my case as simply as possible: I've been the Party's General Secretary for over two years, and if re-elected, I will do my best to continue guiding the Party in the interests of our comrade members. True to Marxist ideals, I shall put no individual interests above the good of the Party and our promotion of our Communist Cause.

Yet again, if you wish to run for any of the seven positions on the Central Executive Committee, please state your candidacy in the comments section. If any wish to be considered for nomination to the Central Committee as Junior Observer members, please announce your desire for nomination in the comments section.

The Party Congress will run until the 21st of November. All decisions made during the Congress will be carried out for the next year per the principles of Democratic Centralism. Remember, it is important that all members of the Party freely discuss any and all concerns at the Congress, as once decisions have been made they will be implemented.

In solidarity,

The-Necromancer
CPDA General Secretary

Here are my proposed details for the job. I wasn't entirely sure where to write this, so I'll leave this here for now if that is acceptable.

Commissar of Environmental Affairs Description

1. Promote discussion of environmental happenings and their social-economic relationships.
2. Cover a wide variety of green politics such as eco-socialism and anarcho-primitivism.
3. Explore contributions to ideologies made by ecologically minded individuals and groups.
4. Encourage examination of modern, industrial based society and its flaws.
5. Devote attention to ecological science and its significance.
6. Provide education on the positive effects of going green, and how to do so.
7. Examine cultural, historical, religious, and philosophical understandings of nature.
8. Reiterate environmental holidays and their histories.
9. Create and accept from others environmentally conscious, left-leaning artwork.
10. Aid general group and blog content with environmentally based writing submissions.

And of course general maintenance and other tasks will be performed, etc.

Dispite my current situation making things difficult, I will still go for re-election as Commissar of external affairs.

I have obviously been gone quite awhile, so I'll leave judgement up more to the other members. Although I still feel as though The Necromancer is the best choice for General Secretary. I unfortunately lack many suggestions right now, with the exception of one. Perhaps I could become a Commissar of Environmental Affairs or something of the sort? I was previously the Commissar of Theory and Ideology for those who do not know. Of course the label and position of power means little to me and I don't want to appear power hungry, but it was a position I had been thinking about briefly before my leave, whether for myself or for someone even more deserving.

I've also taken the liberty of putting your new account icon on the RSV staff list, although you are indicated as being retired. If you wish to be removed from the list or to be indicated as active again, let me know.

I see you've rejoined the Party. Even if you are minimally active, it is good to have you back comrade.

I would perhaps indicate myself as being active again. I'm not yet sure how much blog activity I'll participate in, but I'm definitely not going to be as minimally performing as I was for the last few months.

And thank you for having me, friend.

As you have suggested it, we will hold a vote on the creation of a Commissar of Environmental Affairs. You will thus have your chance to put forth the details of the proposal at the Congress for all to vote upon. If the measure passes, we will of course need to find out if anyone else would like to run for the position and have a vote on that. Pending there would be no other candidates for the post, if it would be created, you would thus be the default winner.

An interesting notion, the idea of someone focused on environmental issues never crossed my mind before.
